Sharp Dressed Man

catch of the day fish (2)Everyone likes to be told that they look like a million bucks. It’s a good feeling. It means, “You made an effort this morning before you walked out the door, and believe me, it was worth it.” And we’ve all got something that makes us feel like we look our best. Whether it’s that one pair of shoes that you keep perfectly shined, or your twenty-minute face-washing regimen, or the right pair of earrings—you know what your good-luck-best-foot-forward thing is. But, like they say, “the suit makes the man.” And even if you don’t want to subscribe to archaic expectations and ideas about primness, the fact is that in a tough economy, when you head into an interview or a first day of work, you want to feel good. Which often means you want to look good. And so, the Baltimore Fashion Alliance and the Living Classrooms Mentoring Academy (along with Christopher Schafer Clothiers) are helping make that happen by doing good. This is the idea behind Sharp Dressed Man.

Besides being a description of the person you want on your arm, Sharp Dressed Man is a recycled suit program for men in need of proper business attire for job interviews and beyond. The new boutique is located in the Living Classrooms Mentoring Academy (a 200 year old renovated building in Mt Vernon—seriously worth a visit, just to marvel at the building itself). This Wednesday, from 5pm-8pm, Sharp Dressed Man is holding their open house, inviting everyone to stop by and involved in the program’s progress as they work to help men get the attire they need to get back on their feet. Of course, donations of gently worn business attire and funds (to help pay for suit alterations, and more) are gratefully accepted to help further this mission.

The Sharp Dressed Man Open House takes place Wednesday, March 20th from 5-8pm at  210 W. Madison Street in Baltimore.
